Carl Shinko, Tenor

Carl Shinko is a Music Performance student at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. His primary area of study is Voice, although he also dabbles in guitar, bass, mandolin, and piano.

He has a passion for composing, arranging and recording music, and tries to keep himself as busy as possible doing these things. Carl is currently authoring a music theory text which will attempt to make the nitty-gritty of music theory and acoustical physics accessible to the layperson. He also is a songwriter and bassist for a local pop/rock band (which is as of yet unnamed).

Carl regularly writes arrangements for Bloomsburg's Concert Choir and the Husky Singers, and is considering trying his hand in the realm of musical theatre as a librettist/composer. Carl credits Clement Janequin, Queen, Aerosmith, Chantal Kreviazuk, Sarah McLachlan, Jim Croce, Don McLean, and Billy Joel as his major musical and Songwriting influences.

Carl has been contributing his Tenor talents to The Bloom Consort for about a year. Carl is also the founder and sole performer in The Shinko Singers. To learn more about this endeavor, click the image at the right. Or to purchase Carl's CD, Carols with Carl, contact Carl at shinkster@yahoo.com
